Mr Charles Zammit

Consultant Breast and Endocrine Surgeon

Leading breast and endocrine surgeon, Mr Charles Zammit specialises in all aspects of breast concerns, dealing with benign and cancer conditions of the breast, including screen-detected problems. In his private consultancy, he provides a One-Stop rapid diagnostic appointment system across the Nuffield Haywards Heath, the Nuffield Brighton and the Spire Montefiore hospitals, whereby mammograms, ultrasound scans and biopsies can all be done within the appointment.

Thyroid and parathyroid surgery is performed to extremely high standards with data submitted to national audit. Bloods during parathyroid surgery are taken to ensure completeness of resection.

Mr Zammit is also the clinical lead for integrated breast care at the University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust and the college tutor for University Hospitals Sussex NHS Trust and Honorary Lecturer at Brighton and Sussex Medical School.

He completed an MA in Medical Education in 2013 and publishes research related to his specialties on a yearly basis.

Mr Giuseppe Morassi

MD , MSc, PhD(c)

Mr Morassi is the Consultant Complex Spine Surgeon at the Nuffield Health Brighton Hospital and the Spire Montefiore in a private capacity and also the University Hospitals Sussex NHS Trust. After completing his CCT in Trauma and Orthopaedics, he embarked on a two-year Fellowship at the internationally renowned Centre for Spinal Studies and Surgery (CSSS) based at Queen’s Medical Centre, Nottingham.

After completing his fellowship, he was appointed as a Consultant Spinal Surgeon in the same unit – one of the biggest and busiest spinal

units in the UK. He has gained significant surgical experience and now deals with a variety of spinal pathologies, including congenital and degenerative spinal conditions, spinal infections, spinal trauma, spinal tumours and spinal deformity. Mr Morassi has developed a special interest in minimally invasive surgery (MIS) and endoscopic (keyhole) surgery to the spine.

Mr Morassi is a keen researcher with numerous papers published in peer-reviewed international journals and numerous presentations in national and international conferences. He has been an investigator in international multicentre clinical trials. He has completed an MSc degree in Metabolic Bone Diseases from the University of Athens (Greece) and is writing a dissertation to complete his PhD.

Mr Morassi is actively involved in the teaching endoscopic spine surgery to qualified spine surgeons as well as teaching medical students, junior doctors and surgical trainees.

Mr Robert Grounds

MBBCh, BSc, MEd, MRCS, FRCS

Mr Grounds is a Consultant ENT Surgeon specialising in complex ear conditions at the Nuffield Health Haywards Heath Hospital in private practice (plus within the private wings of Brighton Hospital, Worthing Hospital and the Princess Royal in Haywards Heath) and also University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust (RSCH, Worthing and Haywards Heath NHS hospitals).

Ranking as one of the top ear surgeons in the country at the end of training, he was awarded the prestigious TWJ Prize to gain international experience in the most complex ear, hearing and balance surgeries.

He offers private consultations for both routine and complex ear, hearing and balance issues. As a researcher, he has published widely and teaches ENT doctors, emphasising compassionate care, rooted in personal experience.

Private consultations are available at the Nuffield Health Haywards Heath Hospital every Thursday morning.
